Chess Club at the MCL
A chess club is being formed at the MCL. Our goal is that chess reaches everyone, especially the youngest ones, since it is they who benefit most from their practice through the development of cognitive skills such as concentration, mental agility and the ability to analyze, which are fundamental elements in student and in daily life.
We plan to have two levels in the program, one that trains beginners in the basic concepts of this sport – teaching the rules, the basic techniques, and ending the game, among other things. There will be n intermediate level for players with some experience; it will have improvement classes, including advanced theory of openings, mid-game tactics and ending games. We aim to develop competitive players, who participate in municipal, departmental and national championships, and hope that our club will open new doors in lives of participants.
Everyone interested in chess, young and older, is invited to an organizational meeting for the Chess Club, Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 4:30 PM in the Activity Room of the library.
